The Vice President of Operations will oversee the company’s worldwide manufacturing operations activities/functions - such as production, quality control and assurance, product costs, workflow automation, purchasing, product/supply chain, materials management, and logistics. The VP will ensure that all manufacturing operations fall within established budgets, schedules, and targets.  In addition, the VP will be responsible for developing the long-range production planning solutions that match the product and market demands.  The Vice President of Operations will also be a key member of the New Product Development Team to lead the manufacturing feasibility and cost analysis studies for developing new products and patenting new technologies.


  • Oversee all aspects of manufacturing, quality control and assurance, shipping, production planning, maintenance, logistics and purchasing functions.

  • Establish manufacturing quality standards, methods, facilities, policies and procedures by studying product requirements; obtaining engineering consultations; determining equipment and facility budgets.

  • Establish world-class supply chain (customer delivery and procurement) operations.

  • Lead the manufacturing feasibility and cost analysis studies for developing new products.

  • Review operating results of the organization, compare them to established objectives, and take steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.

  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.

  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

  • Continuously improve product costs, product quality, on time delivery, inventory accuracy and control, and logistics cost.

  • Manage Distribution support, including Order Entry, Invoicing, Bill of Lading, Freight Coordination, Case and Pallet Labels, and UPS special mailings

  • Manage Federal and State Regulatory Functions, including licenses & permits, registrations, approvals, training materials & employee training, security plans, audit records, CPSC applications and compliances, and certificates of compliances.

  • Manage supplier relationships, negotiate supplier pricing and qualify new suppliers.

  • Assure compliance with all the governmental and industry regulations.

  • Motivate management and team members and instill financial and operational accountability throughout the organization.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, with Advanced Degree a plus.

  • Management: Minimum of 10 years related experience with 5 years managerial experience, with proven multi-national site responsibility leading and directing manufacturing, quality control/assurance, material handling, operations, logistics, engineering, and safety, results-oriented with prior experience in the consumer products industry with an emphasis on quality control and cost reductions.

  • Experience: Versatile experience in multiple functional areas including managing product costs, quality control, inventory control, capacity planning & supplier relationships.

  • Communication/Interpersonal Skills: Professional demeanor; excellent time management, communication, decision-making, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills; ability to maintain positive working relationships with customers, employees and vendors; ability to work cooperatively with the management team to achieve established goals.

  • Computer skills: Familiarity with MRP systems, Facilities Management Software and MS Office Suite.

  • Additional Strengths: Ability to identify and improve efficiencies of systems and processes; ability to analyze information, develop specific goals, prioritize and accomplish tasks.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with multiple facility locations

  • Experience with ISO-9001

  • Experience in make/buy decision-making for outsourced manufacturing

  • Versed in lean manufacturing or related processes

  • Experience managing supply chain

  • Experience implementing MRP system

  • Knowledge of highly automated, networked, high volume manufacturing equipment

  • Proficient with information management systems and software

  • Knowledge of manufacturing automation and analysis software applications a plus

  • Experience in 6-sigma processes a plus.

  • Report to: President/CEO

Key Relationships:

  • President, Senior Management, Sales, R&D, Administration, Accounting, Purchasing, Product Supply, Distribution, Subsidiaries and Suppliers.
