Financial Reporting Manager 
Irvine, CA

Position Summary 

The Financial Reporting Manager is directly responsible for managing the preparation of SEC filings, including the 10-Qs and 10-K, proxy statements and other miscellaneous filings. This role will be a key member of the accounting and finance group, and will have frequent exposure to senior management and other departments including operations, IT, sales and marketing. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports on form 10-Q/K and manage the internal and external review for these documents
  • Prepare the quarterly earnings release
  • Create and maintain the SEC calendar to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for the following processes: financial close, BOD package, press release and 10-Q/K
  • Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, provide US GAAP interpretation and prepare technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner
  • Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management team
  • Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues
  • Assist in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly review activities of external auditors
  • Take a lead role on stock accounting functions (FAS 123R), including the coordination and execution of stock administration activities and SEC filings
  • Support M&A activity including due diligence and preparation of purchase accounting
  • Work on special assignments as they arise
  • Ad-hoc reporting

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications 

  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations is required combined with the ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation
  • Proven self-starter who sets aggressive goals and meets them
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to multitask, work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • 10 + years of related experience, with at least 5 + years with a public accounting firm
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with heavy exposure to SEC reporting and preparation of financial statements and footnotes of public companies
  • International accounting and issue recognition experience
  • Experience with XBRL
  • Experience with an ERP system a strong plus, Oracle preferred
  • Manufacturing industry experience a plus

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Travel Requirements 

  • Typically requires travel 5-20% of the time

Physical Requirements and Work Environment 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
