Cost Accountant Job Description SUMMARY The Cost Accountant (CA) maintains and monitors cost and manufacturing accounting processes for all business locations. The CA is responsible for the timely and accurate collection and reporting of cost related financial information and cost variance analysis. The CA participates in inter-departmental projects as required to support business decisions and profitability improvement. The CA is the main Finance source to provide expertise support to Operation group for Inventory, costing, scrap and any costing related issues. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Participates in the month-end close for inventory related areas, including preparation of required journal entries. Prepares month end manufacturing variance analysis: PPV, labor, burden. Prepares and reviews various daily operating metrics to monitor business performance. Analyzes and reviews bills of material to ensure accurate product costing. Prepares actual versus budget analysis, manufacturing profit variance analysis, and actual to standard cost comparisons. Lead EOZ management to keep the exposure to minimum. Work closely with Operation in Inventory management: Reduction in Inventory Balance, Increase in Turn. Organizes and leads the annual physical inventory and manages the cycle counting process as appropriate. Lead annual Standard Cost roll, quarterly update for WIP OH, and WIP Labor. Participates in preparation of annual budget and forecast. Expected to advise the Finance Manager immediately of any errors, irregularities or significant adjustments or journal entries as they occur. Responsible to all Inventory and Costing related Reporting to Company according to Company Calendar. Special projects assignments to continue to improve process in the company. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Accounting and Finance Minimum of 2-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment Superior verbal and written communication skills to work effectively outside the accounting department Consistently operates at the highest level of integrity and is never willing to compromise with regards to ethical standards.
