JOB FUNCTION

The Controller must be CA/CPA qualified, with at least 10 years senior accounting experience incorporating analysis and problem solving principles within a medium to large organization. Aerospace manufacturing experience would be an advantage as is previous experience working with POC.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for location Finance Functions:

    • AP/AR/Payroll

    • Oversee Month-end closing

    • Hyperion Reporting

    • Mid-month Finance Reviews

    • Accurate Percentage of Completion (POC) reporting

    • Attend Program Management reviews

    • Special projects: SAP, Klikview, etc.

    • Cash Flow Forecasting

  • Support Vice President/General Manager:

    • Weekly Metrics Meetings

    • Variance Analysis

    • Driving cost analysis to plant floor

    • Support GDP strategic process

    • Quoting Rates/System Cost Rates

  • Prepares financial reporting and is responsible for presenting results.

  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.

  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.

  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.

  • Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances;

  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.

  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.

  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

  • Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.



EDUCATION

Any combination of education and or experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. CPA qualified:

  • Bachelor of Science in Finance/ Accounting


EXPERIENCE

  • A hand’s on position that requires working knowledge of accounting disciplines such as, financial accounting, compliance reporting and budget preparation as well as systems development and improvement is essential.

  • Critical to the position is strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication both verbal and written. The ability to lead a small team to achieve department and business finance demands is fundamental as is understanding protocol when interacting with management together with maintaining a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality.

  • The ability to plan and prioritize workloads in order to meet deadlines is fundamental so too is effective time management of work flow in order to meet accounting deadlines.

  • The ability to work without Management direction, use initiative and possess a positive attitude towards teamwork is critical.

  • The capacity to train and coach other members of the department is an expected element of this position, as well as the capacity to develop and format procedures and work flow systems which accurately reflect the department’s operations.

  • Computer literacy is essential with particular reference to Microsoft Office – Excel & Word. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems; Hyperian, Visual Manufacturing and other ERP systems.

  • Degreed; Finance or Accounting

  • Extensive knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost principles.

  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.

  • CPA.

  • Audit Experience.

  • Understanding and experience with POC.
