Accounting Manager Job Summary 
Our client is a growing privately held company currently looking for a dynamic individual with a Big 4 public and private accounting background to be their Accounting Manager. This position requires a professional that wants to lead, is highly motivated, and a self-starter. He/she must be able to identify problems and develop innovative solutions to further efforts toward continuous process improvements. In addition, he/she must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and be able to perform a variety of tasks under time pressure and strict deadlines. This is an exciting opportunity for a top Finance/Accounting professional to utilize his/her expertise in a challenging, rewarding and creative environment while gaining valuable experience, in a unique and highly visible role. The position is a full-time position that is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the day to day accounting functions of Inventory, Payroll, AR, AP and General Ledger, research of accounting issues (US GAAP), and other special projects assigned by the Controller. 

Primary Responsibilities 
  • Responsible for supervision, training and hiring of Inventory, Payroll, AR, AP and General Accountants. 
  • Responsible for ensuring cross-training all accounting functions in the department. 
  • Perform continuous assessment of AP, AR, Inventory, Payroll, GL, Financial Reporting processes including development/revision of policies and procedures. 
  • Research complex accounting topics in conformity with US GAAP. 
  • Supervise preparation of and review reporting to Executives and Board 
  • Review variance analysis for all departments and discuss results with executives. 
  • Prepare the annual audit report and manage the year end audit. 
  • Other special projects. 

Qualifications and Skill Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other business related degree, MBA a plus 
  • 7+ years’ experience with 2+ in a manager role. 
  • CPA is a must preferably with Big 4 background
  • SEC (10K, 10Q, S1, Footnotes) financial reporting/SOX is a plus. 
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, proficiency with Access and Crystal reports a plus. 
  • Experience in manufacturing and cost accounting environment a plus
  • ERP Systems experience (Syspro) is a plus. 
  • Sharp, highly organized individual with attention to detail and strong ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Enjoy reengineering and improving processes 
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including US GAAP. 
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems 
  • Strong analytical skills, understanding of cost accounting and analysis a plus. 
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to participate in group meetings and interact with management.
